In early 2024 Beth Goodfellow began integrating her solo marimba compositions with jazz elements by collaborating with The Guide Trio:

About The Guide Trio:

The Guide is a rootsy acoustic analog funky folk-jazz trio with Jake Leckie on upright bass, Nadav Peled on guitar, and Beth Goodfellow on drums. The group was formed at a series of outdoor jam sessions in Leckie’s front yard, at first working through the American Songbook and jazz standards, and later introducing original compositions and arrangements. These sessions became an anchor not only for the trio, but for the community of neighbors and other local musicians who would bring out their families each week.

As a trio they have performed at The Tucson Jazz Festival, San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival, Horizons Jazz Series at Ace Hotel Palm Springs, and several of LA’s jazz venues, including ETA, Sam First, Bacari, Petit Ermitage, The Dresden, and Three Clubs, and hold down a monthly residency at Tabula Rasa. Equally comfortable playing bebop, Ethiopian funk, folk/pop covers, and their own compositions, there is something for everyone in this trio. Their original music is organic, triadic, and in the pocket. Honest, singable melodies are supported by compelling harmonic movement. The simple instrumentation and interactive playing style gives the trio a cohesive and intimate vibe which can be enjoyed from the first note to the last vamp. The album, "The Guide" was released on Ropeadope Records in April 2022 to critical acclaim: https://jakeleckie.bandcamp.com/album/the-guide
